Don’t know how often this cactus flower blooms or when since I have never been here this time of year. But from what I know of cactus flowers they are slow to mature and many produce flowers only rarely—once every 5 years perhaps? The plant itself is sinewy and its tentacles are over 6 feet long. The flower blooms for one day only. Then retreats. Folds. Closes. Withers. An example of the fleeting nature of beauty.
